The Korea-Africa Foundation held the orientation session for the “2026 Korea-Africa Unicorn Acceleration Program” on February 12 (Thu) at the Kookmin Diplomacy Hall in the Diplomatic Town Complex. The program is designed to support Korean startups in expanding into African markets. A total of 17 participants attended the event, including representatives from the Foundation, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Korea, global accelerators, and participating companies. During the session, attendees shared the program’s objectives, implementation plans, upcoming schedule, key guidelines, and information related to GITEX Morocco.
In the presentation session, the following topics were covered: △ Introduction to the Korea-Africa Foundation and its Exchange & Cooperation Division (Hyemin Kim, Officer, Korea-Africa Foundation); △ Overview of the African startup ecosystem (Jonggil Lee, Director, Korea-Africa Foundation); △ Morocco’s government strategy for fostering startups and key information on the GITEX exhibition (Rania Saidi, Economic Counselor, Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Korea). In particular, Economic Counselor Saidi emphasized that GITEX serves as a strategic platform for entering African and Middle Eastern markets, highlighting that building networks with local governments, investors, and companies can lead to long-term business success.
In his closing remarks, Youngchae Kim, President of the Korea-Africa Foundation, expressed his hope that participation in GITEX would go beyond a simple technology exhibition and serve as a strategic opportunity for identifying local partners, attracting investment, and successfully entering the market. He further reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to actively supporting participating companies in their global expansion by leveraging its local networks and expertise.
