From April 7 (Tue) to 9 (Thu), seven startups selected for the 2026 Korea-Africa Unicorn Acceleration Program participated in GITEX Africa 2026, Africa's largest information and communication exhibition held in Marrakech, Morocco. The Korea-Africa Foundation (KAF) has led the Korea-Africa digital partnership by participating for four consecutive years since the exhibition's inception in 2023.
During the event, KAF operated a Korea Pavilion to showcase the innovative technologies of promising Korean startups to the African stage. By providing intensive support for on-site business matching to help companies establish practical networks with local buyers and partners, a total of 13 Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) were signed.
Furthermore, KAF signed an MOU with the Moroccan Digital Development Agency (ADD) to solidify the foundation for Korean companies' expansion across the continent. Mr. Lee Ju-young, Chairman of the Advisory Board (Former Vice Speaker of the National Assembly), attended the ceremony to emphasize the importance of digital cooperation and encourage the participating firms. The delegation also visited UM6P, Morocco’s leading research-oriented university, for business matching sessions with local experts to support technological localization. In a landmark achievement, “Modigence Vision,” a KAF-supported startup, won the first prize in the ‘Mobility and Smart City’ category at the Supernova Challenge, a prestigious pitching competition. Competing against over 500 global startups, this victory served as a testament to the
excellence of Korean technology in the African market.
Ambassador Kim Young chae, President of the Korea-Africa Foundation, stated, “This achievement proves that Korea’s innovative technologies can significantly contribute to Africa’s digital transformation. We will continue to provide full support, including post-event management, to ensure our companies achieve tangible business results and successfully settle in the African market.”
