On Friday, April 24, the "Senegal-Korea AI Partnership Roundtable" was held to solidify cooperation in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) between South Korea and Senegal. The event was organized to facilitate a meeting between a key Senegalese government delegation and innovative Korean AI companies to share technological expertise and explore concrete partnerships for entering the African market.
The roundtable saw a significant turnout of high-ranking officials from major ministries leading Senegal’s future industries and digital transformation, reflecting a high level of interest in Korean AI technology. Participating organizations included MESRI, ISEP, MCTN, and MEFPT.
These representatives closely examined potential cooperation measures to improve Senegal's educational and industrial infrastructure.
From the Korean side, five promising companies in the AI and healthcare sectors participated: InnoNet, Ekrier, Modigence Vision, Mind Honors, and Bomgen. Each company introduced its core business model and proposed AI solutions and local collaboration models optimized for the specific regional characteristics of Senegal, drawing positive responses from the delegation.
Nouhou Diaby, Special Advisor to the Minister, expressed his gratitude for the visit to the Korea-Africa Foundation and shared his high expectations for Korean AI technology. "I find it very meaningful to visit the Korea-Africa Foundation today, and I am well aware of the foundation's dedicated efforts to serve as a bridge with Africa," Diaby stated. He added, "The diverse technological capabilities of the Korean AI companies I have witnessed here are truly impressive, and I look forward to our future cooperation."
This roundtable is expected to serve as a significant stepping stone for Korean AI companies to expand into the African market, starting with Senegal?the economic hub of West Africa. Moving forward, both parties plan to continue their cooperation to achieve tangible results beyond simple technical exchange, focusing on local job creation and the cultivation of digital talent.
