Climate Tech Orientation Held for the 2026 Global Market Expansion Program in Africa

The Climate Tech Orientation for the 2026 Global Market Expansion Program in Africa was held on Friday, May 22, at EL Tower.

This program is operated as an inter-ministerial collaboration project, led by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS), managed by the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development (KISED), and organized by The Korea-Africa Foundation (KAF). The program provides outstanding Korean climate tech startups seeking to enter the African market with an average of KRW 30 million in project funding, along with a systematic local acceleration program tailored to the African business environment.

In particular, H.E. Sindiswa Ntombolimo Mququ, Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa to the Republic of Korea, and Amb. David Karanja, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Republic of Kenya to the Republic of Korea, attended the orientation and honored the occasion with their presence. During the event, members of the African Group of Ambassadors observed the selected climate tech startups’ innovation pitches (3-minute pitching sessions), delivered warm congratulatory and welcoming remarks, and expressed their commitment to supporting Korean startups in successfully establishing themselves in local African markets.

The climate tech startups selected this year will first complete domestic programs focused on strengthening global business capabilities and project expense settlement training. Afterwards, through one-on-one customized market diagnostics and local acceleration programs conducted in partnership with Impact Hub, the startups will begin their full-scale expansion into African markets, particularly in South Africa and Kenya.

We look forward to the remarkable achievements and visible successes that Korean climate tech startups will accomplish in the dynamic African market.
